THE LIFE -CYCLE OF ENERGIES

There is a very brilliant & interesting study done by Su Jok masters who have classified the Dominant Energies related to the 5 basic Elements as per table below. These are the 6 Energies based on 5 Taoist Elements. This of-course is a guide to not only determine the right age for Marriage, but a guide for ALL THE DIFFERENT AGE GROUPS of Life.

We have however modified the age-groups based on the cycle of the Planet Jupiter which is taken as the JEEV in Vedic Jyotish.

As per Hindu Philosophy the physical body is comprised of 5 basic elements: Agni (Fire), Prithvi (Earth), Jal (Water), Vayu (Air) and Akash (Space or Ether). Similarly, as per the Oriental Philosophy, the 5 elements are Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal & Water.  Based on these 5 elements – there are 6 types of Dominant Energies which manifests in a Human being during his/her lifetime upto age 60 and beyond.

Here are the 6 Dominant Energies & Related AGE Groups:

Group 1:

The Infants, Toddlers, Adolescents to Tweens:

Dominant Energy: WIND

Age Group: 0-12 years

This group is amongst the most energetic and restless of all the groups. Everyone must have noticed the behaviour of Children. They are like the wind – ever moving, ever animated, ever bouncing (Phudekte rehte hain!). Try telling a child to sit still?! Impossible…! Hence children are seldom overweight due to their lifestyle. They always tend to be doing something or the other. They love action, movement and challenges and always like to come first and be the best. They can exhibit anger in the form of mild irritabilities, and at worst, can be prone to shrieking shouting, crying and exhibiting hysterical tantrums etc.

Group 2:

The Neo Teenagers:

Dominant Energy: EXTREME HEAT

Age Group: 12-18 years

As Tweens morph into Teenagers, they start exhibiting the characteristics of Fire. Fire is raw energy, Fire is ambition (tendency to go up, ascend). Touch them and they will burn you. Teens tend to be less energetic than the earlier Wind stage. Teenagers believe in the power of charisma and desire to follow their heroes. They love sensationalism and believe in taking unprecedented risks to impress their peers (remember the disastrous ‘Blue Whale Challenge’ in which many teens lost their lives).

Joy is the emotion associated with the Fire element; therefore, pleasure is the main focus for Teenagers. Their easy excitability manifests as giggling and talkativeness. They therefore thrive on wild parties, excitement and group activities. They seek gratification at every turn and dislike being alone (now understand why all the popularity of social media platforms like FB, Instagram, Twitter, SnapChat, WhatsApp etc.). By themselves they feel lifeless; in company they come alive. They want to appear to be fun-loving and romantic but all in the hope of catching the attention and being the heroes of their group. But they can easily lose their interest and excitement without external props and other people’s attention which can then lead to feelings of depression, fear of being left out (FOMO) which they are unable to handle!

The extreme heat causes inflammation of the skin which can manifest as rashes, pimples & acne.

Dealing with Teens: Very often we see huge fights and difference of opinions between teens and their parents. Teenagers rarely think or talk good about their parents especially in front of their peers. I have seen fathers being addressed in a very derogatory manner as ‘Mera Buddhaa’ (old worthless man!). When Parents use force and anger against Teenagers, they are doing more harm than good. After all, if you Add Fire (Anger) to Fire (Teen), you get a bigger fire which may lead to an explosion! So, to douse the Teen fire, Parents are advised to use coldness (Water Element) ie Cool matured approach. Wish parents take a simple lesson from this on ’Teen’ relationship management.

Group 3:

 The Young Adults:

Dominant Energy – HOTNESS

Age Group: 18-24 years

The Extreme Heat stage is one of raw energy. But slowly this gives way to Idealistic – Mature Heat or Hotness. This can be one of the most treacherous and vulnerable periods of an individual’s life. The accumulated Heat of 6 years is there in all its glory, the body is fully developed physically but due to still underdeveloped maturity, their minds are vulnerable to manipulation (external stimuli or even self-induced). This manipulation can happen in a positive direction or negative direction. Many of the brave soldiers who are driven by their burning desire to serve their country come from this group. So do all the Start-up promoters, the rising stars of all Sports and Art and Cinema. Unfortunately, the bad elements of society like rapists, terrorists, other criminals and even those committing suicide also belong to this vulnerable age group since their minds have been manipulated. Read the newspapers or news on digital media and you will be astonished to find that 80% of the heroes or anti-social elements belong to this age group or adjoining ages!

Dealing with Young Adults: It is the duty of the parents and society in general to somehow control the emotions and actions of this vulnerable age group so that they don’t go astray and get guided by the bad elements in society. Again, like Extreme Heat the weapon to subjugate Hotness is Coldness (Water element) and maturity. Parents should learn to be friends & guides of their Children rather than act like their owners or bosses.

Important lesson for MARRIAGE: This is also a very precarious age to get married since Passion (Heat in form of Hotness) is extremely high, The Physical body and hormones are fully developed, but mental maturity levels are still in an idealistic stage. As such, marriages in this age group have a very high failure rate. Hence it is advisable that youngsters should marry in the next age group for more stable marriages.

A word of caution though; there can be few instances of marriages having succeeded in this age group or marriages having failed in the next group or beyond. But here we are trying to decipher the effect of dominant energies related to the age group and the effects it can have on a very important relationship like marriage.

Group 4:

 The Responsible Adults:

Dominant Energy – HUMIDITY

Age Group: 24-36 years

After the Extreme Heat & Hotness stages the Earth element comes into play. The dominant energy is Humidity which exhibits in the form of the individual slightly slowing down, getting grounded and becoming calmer. Much akin to humidity which sticks to everything, they become social players, associate with other people, seek harmony and togetherness and require loyalty, security and predictability. At this stage they turn devoted, dependable, reliable, sympathetic, and good caretakers. They can also develop a worrying nature due to demands of socio-eco & familial responsibilities!  Strangely, without the demands of work or responsibility to others, they can become unmotivated, their energies become stagnant and this leads to poor food habits and flabbiness. Since basal metabolic rate also starts slowing down, there is a very strong tendency to gain weight in this group.

Dealing with Responsible Adults: This the most productive age of the person and if in jobs, they need to be given responsibilities, targets by their bosses. This is also the best age to be self-driven, to take on challenging tasks and assignments and even become entrepreneurs and start own ventures.

Important lesson for MARRIAGE: This is undoubtedly the correct age to get married. All the characteristics mentioned above viz social orientation, dependable, responsible, caretakers, sympathetic nature, harmony and togetherness etc. are all great ingredients for a Happy Marriage. Not only are the Physical body and hormonal functions fully developed; the mental maturity levels are also fully established. There is no doubt that marriages in this age group have a much better success rate and shelf life.

So, one should strive to get married between the age of 24 to 30, and certainly before age 30, since 30 is the meeting point of half of Jupiter’s 3rd cycle and also the end of Saturn’s 1st cycle!

Group 5:

 The Mature Adults:

Dominant Energy – DRYNESS

Age Group: 36-48 years

After the Humidity stage the Metal element comes into play. The dominant energy is Dryness. Due to hormonal changes, the tissues of the body lose their capacity to retain water. The skin starts getting scaly and dry and the first wrinkles start appearing. There is a decline in physical functions and body starts atrophying in the last stages of the age group but which is not noticeable yet. There is a strong tendency to become possessive, acquisitive in nature, and domineering in an effort to control their environment. The emotion associated with the metal element is sadness. Often, they sometimes seek solitude from social circles or even at home but in work they are like metal – hasty, structured, disciplined and principled.

Important lesson for MARRIAGE: This is the age in which couples start becoming rigid (metal type) and also may become fearful of true intimacy. Like metal they may be pleasant but cool. They may become somewhat detached or even inaccessible since marriage is settled in. There was a Covid joke going around – ‘you can best learn Social Distancing from Married Couples’. This is probably related to this group.

Group 6:

 The Middle Agers:

Dominant Energy – COLDNESS

Age Group: 48-60 years

After the dryness stage the human body enters the Coldness zone. The Body temperatures decrease, one starts feeling cold, and Cold related illnesses can onset. Coldness brings Wisdom and such people become articulate, clever and introspective, self-contained and self-sufficient. They seek knowledge constantly and develop a great understanding of human affairs.  Some can make great leaders and very successful CEOs of large and small Corporations since Water’s qualities could make them Flexible in their approach and develop a great risk appetite inside along with above mentioned qualities. On the other hand, since Fear is also the emotion for Water, when they feel threatened, they tend to isolate themselves and prefer to be left alone. They may also become cautious and calculative about their future since they are entering retirement age.

Important lesson for MARRIAGE: During this period of couples need to offset their toughness, bluntness with tenderness, openness and attachment. They need to realize that they have the support of each other and both are in the union right till the very end.

LIFE’s MID-POINT: AGE 60 [RE-BIRTH]

Group 7:

 The Young Oldies:

Dominant Energy – WINDY AGAIN!

Age Group: 60-72 years

The fascinating thing is that the circle of Energies RESTARTS ALL OVER AGAIN. The wind energy again dominates in this group. The Wind characteristics are back and if the person has kept proper health, one can see the childlike energy, the similar restlessness, laughter and chattiness! Have you never wondered why the Grandparents and their little Grandchildren make good teams?! You might have witnessed many a times, Grandpas running and playing around with their Grandchildren in a Park, while the children’s Dads are sitting on a bench. And whom do you mostly see walking, exercising, chattering and even organizing laugher groups in the Parks every morning in assembly? Of-course the 60 plus group! In a recently turned 60+ school group it was noticed that suddenly at least 8-10 members started singing, playing musical instruments, writing poetry, venturing into photography and even writing books which they had probably never done earlier in life. This clearly is the play of the Energies!

Group 8 & beyond:

 The Oldies:

Dominant Energy – HEAT / HOTNESS AGAIN!

Age Group: 72-84 years

Since the individual is now turning physically old, his cognitive and bodily powers are on the wane. Very few individuals beyond this point can hope to enjoy the dominant energies related to this group. However, there have been many instances of people turning highly successful in these groups too. Notable are KFC founder Col. Sanders (age 65+), Ronald Reagan the American President at age 70, Peter Roget for the Thesaurus (at age 73), Capt. CP Krishna Nair (founder Leela Chain of Hotels at age 65+), Nelson Mandela (became first Black President of South Africa at age 72). There are hundreds of examples where the ambition aspect of heat and hotness start manifesting again.
