Vedic Astrology is an ancient science of wisdom that is the language of the stars. It suggests that there is a correlation between the positions and movements of celestial bodies and events occurring on Earth. It is often used for gaining insights into personality traits, relationships, and future events. Jyotish has been developed by our wise Rishis of yore who with their ‘divya dhrishti’ or deep insight were able to correlate Planets & Nakshatras (Stars / Constellations) with human affairs related to the Karmic deeds of past lives and their effect in this present life. Some can be skeptical and ask how these Planets & Nakshatras which are so far away, affect human life? Moreover, how can inanimate objects like planets affect & govern our daily lives? To the non-believers or skeptics we can only say - consider this…. for understanding any language there is a certain Script or Lipi. In English there are the 26 Alphabets, Words, Sentences, Paragraphs, Pronunciation & Grammar rules which are the basic structure on which the language is built. Similarly, Hindi is built on the ‘Varnmala’ in Devnagiri Script, Matras, Shabd (words), Anuched (Paragraph) etc. On similar lines you can say that the Astrological Charts with Planets, Nakshatras, Rashis, Bhavas and Dashas is the LANGUAGE to decipher our Past life Karmas and the effects of which we have to face in this life (known as Prarabdh).
When a child is just born, we are able to click its picture. Suppose at that very same moment, we had a very powerful 360° telescopic camera, which could be pointed upwards to the Heavens and a picture was clicked. This Picture would in fact show the positions of different outer & inner planets of our solar system like Mer, Jupiter etc. In the background of all these planets would be different stars & constellations or Nakshatras & Rashis. The elements of this picture are then placed in a Pre-determined Astrological Chart having 12 Houses or Bhavas which are related to different aspect of a human life (Self, Family, Co-Borns, Spouse etc). So, each Bhava will contain one rashi or maybe overlapping rashis too & the planets will be placed in various Bhavas based on their Rashi position (Degrees etc). It is to be noted that since astrology is Geo-Centric (Picture taken from the earth), we take the 5 Planets ie Mer, Ven, Mars, Jup & Saturn. We then consider Sun & Moon like Planets due to their huge influence on human affairs. Again, we also consider Rahu & Ketu as planets due to their immense influence (not really celestial bodies but energy points), though they are basically the nodes of the Moon. Hence normally we take 9 planets into account & leave very remote planets like Uranus since their position does not change even in 200-250 years.
Astrology operates on the principle that the positions of celestial bodies at the time of a person's birth can influence their personality traits, behaviour, relationships, and future life events. Astrologers analyze these positions to provide insights and predictions.
Like there are different coaches in life who guide you on different aspects like Health, Wealth, Relationships, similarly an expert Astrologer is a GIDE who can provide insights into various aspects of your life, including your personality traits, relationship -compatibility, career-issues etc.
The word science has been derived from the Latin Word Scientia, which meant knowledge, a knowing, expertness or experience. A scientific study has 3 fundamental characteristics: Universality, Repeatability & Progressiveness due to being Self-Correcting or Adaptable to changing environments, circumstances & new information. On the same principles, Astrology is also Universal i.e. applicable Universally, Repeatable (Many Astrological combinations will give repeated results) & Self-Correcting (in this case Astrological Predictions change as per the concept of Desh-Kaal-Patra). On the other-hand it is an Art (like Medical practice) since Astrologers may rely on tradition, personal experience, intuition and logic & hence this can be loosely termed Non-Scientific.
Astrology as a science has been developed over thousands of years. So, in the hands of a learned & competent Astrologer, the predictive readings can be amazing. However, like any science like say Medicine, the skills, experience and tools used by the Doctor are paramount. Similarly, the accuracy of astrological predictions can vary depending on factors such as the skill and experience of the astrologer, the quality of the birth details & other information provided, and the potency of the Astrological TOOLS & Techniques used.
As different Doctors can offer a different diagnosis for the same medical problem, and also a different approach for treatment, similarly various Astrologers can have different interpretations of the same chart & different approach to remedies. So as stated in last answer, Astrological predictions can vary depending on factors such as the knowledge, skill and experience of the astrologer.
Visualize this…you are at the Airport. You have to catch a flight to a particular destination. So, what do you do: You seek information from the Airline desk, or simply study the Flight Schedule Display Board which shows the Airline, Flight no. Gate No, Flight Time, Delay etc. Visualise Astrology as that same Information Board. However, on the Way, you can choose to take the Sky Train, Elevator, Walk-a-lator, Golf-Cart or simply walk up to your scheduled departure gate. On the way you can also stop at a restaurant, do a little shopping from Duty-Free or simply relax your tired muscles at a spa. If you are late for Boarding or Miss the Flight due to callousness, it is mostly your fault. The information put up on the Flight Information Board and the navigation signs on the way was to empower you with the tools for making informed choices. So, Astrology is not about changing your fate but guiding you before you’re on your way forward. It can provide insights and information that can help individuals navigate life's challenges and make decisions aligned with their requirements, goals and values. Further, seekers must remember that astrology is just one aspect to consider. Present karma, actions and circumstances can alter outcomes, and no chart can fully dictate one's total destiny. The present life Karma holds the power to override quite a few predicted astrological events. This will be good news to the KARAM-YOGIS or those who believe in just Karma.<br /> We strongly urge our learned seekers to approach astrology with discernment and to use it as a tool for guidance rather than a sole determinant or substitute of life choices. While consulting with qualified Astrologers is important, seeking guidance from other important trusted sources like parents, family, relatives, neighbours, friends, counsellors, doctors, psychiatrists, experts and advisors etc. is paramount in navigating life's different complexities.
